Harris County Hazardous Materials Response Team's HM-2 Reports for Duty May 1 2008 9:19AM

(Harris County, TX) After several months of preparation and make-ready, HM-2 (HazMat-2) is in service and ready to respond.  HM-2 will join HM-1 as a hazardous materials response task force.  

HM-2 is designed and equipped to assist Harris County area fire departments with fire fighting foam or other specialized hazardous material needs during large flammable liquid incidents.    

Purchased with Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funds, HM-2 adds new capabilities to Harris County's hazardous materials  response efforts.

UASI funds, administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, enhance the ability of states, territories, and urban areas to prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from terrorist attacks and other disasters.
